Dorota Wielkosielec
Dorota Wielkosielec was born in Sokołów Podlaski in 1961.
She graduated from zoo technical studies at the Agricultural-Pedagogical Higher School in Siedlce (1987) and went on to graduate artistic-pedagogical studies at the Faculty of Humanities at the Academy of Podlasie in Siedlce (2005) – painting (prof. Pius Ciapało Atelier). She practices drawing, watercolour painting and batik since 1992.
She currently lives and works in Warsaw. In 2001 in the Capital Centre of Cultural Education (located in the Old Town) she has organized the Batik Atelier. She managed the batik workshop in the Cathedral of Artistic Fabric in the Department of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (2001), also batik courses for teachers and – in the years 2004-2009 – an art workshop for foreigners studying in Poland in the Summer School of Polish Language, popularizing art of batik.
Watercolours„Watercolour sketches” are open-air vacation notes inspired by nature,
made in the years 2003-2008 on paper with dimensions of 50x70 cm
Early batiks„Early batiks” were created in the years 1994-2002. These are compositions of processed
landscape presented in a form of long rectangles
LandscapesBatiks from „Landscape” cycle are inspired by nature and were created in 2005 Night lights„Night Lights” are nocturnes produced in 2000-2005,
inspired by twinkling bright lights of big city architecture against the background of the ink sky
WindowsThis cycle from 2006-2007 shows compositions in close up with detailed sections of modern glassy big city buildings
– mineshafts of lifts, windows, walls, domes and advertisements all vibrating in artificial light
Wings I„Wings I – single” and „Wings II – diptychs” is a composition seemingly abstract, based on symmetry, inspired
by many associations of wings taken from nature and technology.
This series started in 2010, is continued mainly in the form of diptychs.
